SAUK RAPIDS RADUNS RECALLED BY FLYERS |
|
November 5, 2008
Sauk Rapids Raduns recalled by Flyers
Times staff report
Nate Raduns, a Sauk Rapids High School graduate and former St. Cloud State forward, was called up by the Philadelphia Flyers and could be in the lineup when they play the Ottawa Senators on Thursday.
Raduns was one of two forwards, joining Boyd Kane, who were promoted from the AHLs Philadelphia Phantoms to skate with the Flyers on Tuesday. The move was partially necessary because former SCSU star Andreas Nodl has suffered a lower-body injury.
Raduns is a big guy, he skates well, and he handles pucks well in the middle of the ice, Flyers coach John Stevens said in a story on the team's web site. We just thought wed give him a look on the fourth line. Same thing with Boyd Kane. He's got a little bit more experience.
We'll wait and see how Nodl is. Hopefully he's an option on Thursday.
Nodl is day-to-day and did not skate on Tuesday. Raduns has a goal and two assists for three points and 14 penalty minutes in 10 games with the Phantoms this season.
If he appears in an NHL game, Raduns would become just the second player born and raised in the St. Cloud area to make it to The Show. Only Kurt Sauer, a St. Cloud Apollo graduate who is a defenseman with the Phoenix Coyotes, precedes him. |
